Who I am I'm Rachel, wife to Tim, and mom to my two very energetic preschool boys, David and Michael. I am a confirmed Christian, and when I'm not chasing the boys around the house or sitting at the computer or sewing machine I'm busy at church. My current project is working with my husband to get a ministry put together to serve the college students of Mary Washington University, which is just a few short blocks away. |

My Sewing Background I've been sewing since I was a little girl. My grandmother, who is an excellent seamstress, taught me to sew as a pre-teen. By the time I was 12 years old I had already started sewing simple articles of clothing for myself. When I left the paid workforce to become a stay-at-home mom, one of the first things I did was buy a sewing machine so I can make things for my kids. I started sewing diapers while I was pregnant with my second child, Michael. We had been using cloth diapers since my first child, David, was a week old, and I wanted to try my hand at making my own. After learning some basics of diaper sewing, I made my own pattern and got to work, making my first diapers for David, then a stash for Michael. It was so much fun that I just kept going and started making diapers for other people! |
The Birth of Adorabumz
Adorabumz was born during a Wednesday night lesson series at church on "The Dream Giver", by Bruce Wilkenson. My husband and I had been talking about starting a diaper business for years, and I was starting to believe that now was the time to start. After much prayer and encouragement from friends, we bought a domain and here we are! Adorabumz has been open for over a year now, and is growing by leaps and bounds. If you're familiar with "The DreamGiver" book, we've been through the wilderness, and are now entering the Valley of the Giants - it's scary, but God will accomplish His goal!
My Faith and my Challenge to You
My faith in God is very important to me, and is central to who I am. I came to faith as a young child, and Christ has proven himself real to me over and over again in ways I can never explain. I will never push this faith on anyone, as I don't believe that accomplishes anything. But quite honestly I believe that decision you make about who Jesus Christ is is the single most important decision you will ever make in your life.
| Jesus is a historical figure who, while doing many wonderful things, also claimed to be God himself. He claimed that everyone on earth is a sinner, and because of that sin we are subject to the wrath of God - noone, no matter how "good" you think you may be, is exempt. But because God loves us so much, He made a way for us to be forgiven, and Christ is that way. He took our punishment for us through His death. He alone in history, through no help of anyone else, rose from the dead (a documented fact), appeared to many, many people, and lives with God today. All it takes is a belief in Him and you will be forgiven - his sacrifice was sufficient. |
Asked in his own words - "But what about you? Who do you say I am?" (Matthew 6:15) My challenge to you is to think about this, research it for yourself, and answer this question honestly. If Jesus is who he says he is, then we need to listed to Him very carefully. And if he's not? Then who was he?
I'd love to share more with you - email me anytime - even if you just want to tell me how wrong I am!
